TREVOR LOVEYS OF SWITCH

One of the godfathers of Fidget House and a legend of the UK music scene Trevor Loveys has had countless releases spanning over a career of almost fifteen years. With fans all over the world including some of the biggest names of dance music, don’t miss him as he plays an exclusive set at Kclub in the intimate setting of The Ruby Tramp on Saturday April 10th.

Trevor’s love of music started at a young age when he discovered electro and hip hop back in the early eighties. He got heavily into the scene collecting all the music he could from various record shops and radio shows, and went on to paint graffiti until his mid 20’s when a close friend bought an Akai sampler and Roland Juno 106 synthesiser. This was to be the turning point and beginning of a journey into production.

After teaching himself programming and production over a period of 3 years, he was ready to put out his first release on the House of 909 imprint. He released around 5 12" singles and EPs over a 2 year period and went on to record an album 'The Children We Were', which received critical acclaim from music press and fans of his deep house sound.

Then in 2000 he met up with Dave Taylor and started working on various projects together, the most successful of which is Switch. They released various singles and did high profile remixes for the likes Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx and Busta Rhymes. Trevor is also a part of Machines Don’t Care, a collaboration project including the likes of Fake Blood, Sinden and Drop The Lime, as well as having worked with the likes of Herve and Jesse Rose in other musical projects.

His releases span across a profusion of record labels including Modular, DFA, Dim Mak, Cheap Thrills, Marine Parade, XL Recordings and Made To Play, whilst having remixed the likes of Claude Von Stroke, The Crookers, Evil Nine and Roisin Murphy. He is a favourite of producers and djs worldwide, including luminaries such as Erol Alkan, Steve Aoki, Annie Mac, and Australia’s own Bang Gang Deejays, having featured on both ‘Light Sound Dance’ and ‘D is for Disco, E is for Dancing’.

TURBO RECORDINGS NIGHT

From its humble beginnings, Turbo Recordings has grown into a haven for World DJs and dancers alike. Founded by well-liked Groove-Shaman Tiga, the independent label has emerged at the forefront of the contemporary Bravewave scene with a roster including such luminaries as Chromeo, Boys Noize, Proxy, D.I.M, Zdar, Brodinski and the tastemaker himself, Tiga.

In June 2010 Turbo Records prepares to take over Australia hosting its own stage at the We Love Sounds and Winter Sound System Festivals nationwide, with the likes of Tiga, Zombie Nation, Proxy and many more. As a special warm-up, Kclub welcomes Turbo Records for their only Queensland club night on the 20th of March, featuring no other than Noob, Matt Walsh & a myriad of special guests.

Over the past twelve months Kclub has hosted over forty international and interstate acts, held sixteen parties across the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and collaborated with the likes of Ksubi, Dim Mak, Boys Noize Records and Gay Bash to bring you some of the best nights and biggest hangovers of ’09.

Past guests include Ratatat, Yelle, Mark ‘The Cobrasnake’ Hunter, Mickey Avalon, NWA’s Arabian Prince, Holy Ghost!, Pase Rock, Danger, Midnight Juggernauts, Architecture In Helsinki, Bag Raiders and Van She Tech, and as we prepare to celebrate our very first Birthday on Saturday January 30th we extend to you a very special invitation to make merry with us!

The night will feature entertainment from no other than Soulwax’s One Man Party (Belgium) accompanied by a myriad of artists including Sweat It Out’s Dan Cares! (Sydney) and Loods (Sydney), Fingers (Melbourne), Tropics, Adam & Eve, Robinson Crusoe, Mary Jane, Def Kids, K.Oh & some very special guests to be announced in the coming weeks! In addition, we’re giving away party bags for the first 50 people through the door as well as other super special surprises throughout the night!

This Friday Kclub & Ksubi come together for their 'Sex & Fashion' Christmas Party at The Ruby Tramp. Headlined by Ksubi owner and Bang Gang Deejay - Dangerous Dan along with Bang Gang 12" Signee and Erol Alkan favourite - Jimmy2Sox, along with a myriad of local supports.

The night will feature giveaways from 9-10pm as well as presents from Ksubi, Kitsuné & Dim Mak for best &/or worst dressed - theme is Christmas Sweaters.

GUESS WHAT JUST HIT THE GLITTER STRIP...

On Friday November 20th Sydney's notorious Gay Bash parties hit the glitter strip for one night only at The Ruby Tramp. Featuring DJ Sets from Architecture In Helsinki, Nolan Nolan (Bang Gang Deejays), Sirens, National Treasure, Perfect Snatch, Tropics, Spooks, Robinson Crusoe, Rutfuck, Mary Jane, Def Kids & K.Oh!

For those not in the know, Gay Bash is one of Sydney's longest lasting parties where straights, queers and confused come together for a night of fun and frivolity. In three years, Gay Bash have hosted most of Australia's best DJs, with themed parties spanning from 'Nautical But Nice' to 'Gay Bush'.

On the night there will be 'vip entitlements' (yes... the same vip entitlements that The Bedroom (and other shit clubs) offer) for the first hour or so... plus a bunch of other super secret surprises.

DIM MAK RECORDS PARTY

Steve Aoki’s notorious Dim Mak parties come to the Gold Coast's Ruby Tramp on Friday October 23rd as Kclub plays host to Spank Rock’s Pase Rock, Rob Threezy (Fool’s Gold/Mad Decent) and a Secret International Guest, plus a slew of local supports and massive giveways from Dim Mak.

PASE ROCK (SPANK ROCK)
Brooklyn, NY based artist Pase Rock is a renaissance man in demand. Since teaching himself how to scratch on his Grandmother’s direct drive turntable at 9 years old, Pase has been utterly fascinated with the infinite rotation of the vinyl platter. Pase is a celebrity DJ of choice, having DJ’d private parties for Snoop Dogg, The Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Playboy, Lindsay Lohan, Adidas, and scores more.

He has toured around the world as both a DJ and MC with the hip hop group’s Five Deez and Spank Rock since 2001. Recently he’s also been seen collaborating with Steve Aoki , Diplo, Santigold, Amanda Blank, Cuiziner, Tittsworth, Kid Sister, Japanese super-producer Nujabes, XXXChange and more. Having numerous twelve inch releases on over 20 different record labels and three studio albums, Pase is now working on his forth LP to be released in early 2010.

Pase also likes to play a lot of golf.

ROB THREEZY (FOOL’S GOLD/MAD DECENT)
Rob Threezy is part of a new generation of Chicago producers who are pushing the boundaries of club music, ripping apart borders between Baltimore, Dubstep, Electro and House. Having released multiple works on Diplo’s Mad Decent & A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label, Rob Threezy is hyped as the next big thing from Chi-Town.

N.W.A. FOUNDING MEMBER - ARABIAN PRINCE

Founding member of the world's most dangerous group N.W.A. (with Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren & Yella), Arabian Prince gave birth to Gangsta Rap with hits like 'Fuck The Police', 'Express Yourself' and 'Straight Outta Compton'. Producing N.W.A.'s first two albums (N.W.A. and the Posse & Straight Outta Compton) whilst working with the likes of JJ Fad, Egyptian Lover, Dreamteam and Stone's Throw Records Arabian Prince evokes passion in hip hop and electro/dance fans around the globe.

Brother Arab will be playing a Queensland exclusive set at Kclub on September 19th at Ruby Tramp. Joining him will be Vice writer - Mumdance, from Diplo's Mad Decent stable, plus a slew of other supports.

BOYS NOIZE RECORDS NIGHT

Labeled the Ed Banger of Germany, Boys Noize Records (established by Alex Rihda aka Boys Noize and Kid Alex) is at the forefront of electronic music for generation Y. Boys Noize Records is a trendsetter, a pacesetter and innovator releasing some the most up front, coolest music around, signing The Faint, D.I.M, Shadowdancer and of course, head honcho, Boys Noize.

The night will feature sets from Boys Noize international artists Shadowdancer, Strip Steve & Djedjotronic, as well as a slew of other DJs.

DFA RECORDS SHOWCASE

On Friday July 10 Kclub presents DFA Records signings DJ Kaos (Germany) and Canyons at Barsoma in Brisbane.

DJ Kaos is an integral part of the Berlin underground scene, producing a variety of twisted dance music for a number of years now. His first single was a collaboration with Ash Ra Temples Manuel Goettsching (of E2-E4 fame.) The 12”, made in 1991 when Kaos was part of downtempo scene leaders Terranova, was called “Toyko Tower” He’s performed all over the Globe, from Europe, Japan to the US. He has released original music on such seminal dance labels as Eskimo, Kitsune, Playhouse, as well as early singles for Rong Music and now Rong/DFA. His remixes have proven in demand, remixing everyone from !!! (Chk Chk Chk) to Roxy Music to the New Young Pony Club. Kaos is a part of the exclusive K7 Records DJ Kicks mix series with his eclectic mix released in 1995, as well as his full-length solo LP released on K7 in 2005 featuring such vocal talents as Erlend Ø¹e, Matt Safer of the Rapture and Cpt. Comatose. He also participated in the Faith Records “Collectors Series” with a mix CD entitled “Danse, Gravite Zero” created with Sal Principiato of the legendary NYC group Liquid Liquid.

Tip your hats and say hello to Modular’s newest family members, the DJ/producer duo Leo Holiday and Ryan Sea-mist, better known as the collective unit, Canyons. Hailing from Perth but now calling Sydney home, Canyons are more “cool older step-brother” than “creepy uncle” and have been causing ripples in the house music pond with their unique flavour of eclectic genre-defying tunes. You can’t rush art, so while we all pine over the release of Canyons’ debut record, Modular will be releasing a single before the year is out to offer a taste test of what to expect. Also, keep your ears peeled for a 12″single due out this July on DFA.

Supports on the night include Robinson Crusoe, Grizzly Grant, Charlie Why! and Mary Jane. Giveaways thanks to Dim Mak and The Joy Stores.

THE JUGGERNAUTS ARE COMING

Midnight Juggernauts are a well known space-rock-cosmic-boogie-force championed by everyone from Justice to Daft Punk to Mark Poston. After spending the last year touring the world and playing every festival from Fuji Rock to Coachella to Glastonbury, Midnight Juggernauts are now back in Australia to write/record their follow up to their successful debut Album "Dystopia". On the side they've also been asked to remix a cavalcade of artists including CSS, Sebastien Tellier, Cutcopy and many more. When not making a noise on stage or in the studio, the members of Midnight Juggernauts will sometimes venture out to spin records under the guise of JUGGERNAUT DJs. In DJ mode the guy shave rocked various parties/festivals/warehouses/carparks etc from New York to London to Paris and are now are ready to have some fun in their homeland.

The Midnight Juggernauts will be performing a very special DJ Set at Kclub on Saturday July 4th at The Ruby Tramp.

DANGER! DANGER!

Two years ago, Danger aka Franck Rivoire, was merely a young and unknown producer. After releasing two EPs and touring across the globe he now finds himself as one of the key figures in the new French Electro scene. His productions combine dynamism, surprising structures and sought textures whilst his live show creates a full-fledged universe where visual and audio elements interact and complement each other.

Rumoured to have started in '87, when two best friends dropped out of school to design square-end knit ties. Back then a KClub Party was a few bratty kids hanging out making mix tapes on a Casio cassette recorder and drinking Hennessey pinched from Dadís liquor cabinet.

Tragedy struck when a freak hairspray fire burnt down their home. Forced out on the mean streets of Gold Coast, pressured by their friends to get a tan and a tribal tattoo, the guys were left to party in alley ways and fire escapes. With no place to thrash their hyfee ghetto pop or get wild on a disco break the Kclub crew set about pioneering their own brand of nudilicous party night, revolutionising the Gold Coast music scene in the process

Rocking hot sets and international guests to exclusive clientele, KClub is making it happen all across the Sunny State. The only place north of the border to mix it up with indie fashion punks and DJís posing in their underwear cause lets face itÖ when you grow up surrounded by banana boat mofos you just wanna spend your nights dance-slamming to dope beats and signing autographs with your favourite shade of Rimmel.

Kclub has pedigree. Spotted trading wayfarers with Mickey Avalon and jamming the superNES with Midnight Juggernaughts. Kclub are known to hang with L.A based doyen of the party-snap and all round hipster freakout Mark 'the Cobrasnake' Hunter. Previous Kclub parties have welcomed some serious international and local guests including: Bag Raiders, Tepr, Gus da Hoot, Holy Ghost, Van She Tech, Bumblebeez, Danger, Ratatat, Ted&Francis and just a whole heap more.

So remember kids, the ocean belongs to the sharks, and sea salt fucks with your leather. Trade in your board shorts for some hitops and get you beautiful fache to a KClub Party.
